Koko Head Shooting Complex pistol, rifle ranges resuming weekday schedule

Ranges open for public use Wednesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays, 12 noon to 4 p.m., beginning July 10

News release from City and County of Honolulu, 08 July 2024

O‘AHU – The City and County of Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is proud to announce the pistol and rifle ranges at the Koko Head Shooting Complex will resume their weekday  hours of operation beginning Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

Both ranges will be open for public use from 12 noon to 4 p.m. every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with weekend hours remaining from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The entire shooting complex is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and holidays.

The weekday use of the pistol and rifle ranges will be available to the public on a walk-in, first-come-first-served basis, without the need for an online reservation. For the time being, DPR will continue the use of the pros.hnl.info online reservation system for weekend shooting to better manage existing demand. This also increases the availability of the shooting lanes for more gun owners, as the system allows shooters to book 1-hour 20-minute time slots. Walk-in use of the ranges during weekend hours of operation is accommodated, but reservations are highly recommended.

DPR continues to work with local gun clubs and other government agencies to reopen the silhouette range.

The Koko Head Shooting Complex was initially closed in September 2022, and began reopening for public use in March & April 2024. During the closure, the City hired a national outdoor shooting range expert to refresh the operations of the range, train employees in best practices for lead awareness to protect their health, and completed a variety of range improvements.

Please visit the KHSC official website for additional information and updates about the complex and its operations: bit.ly/kokoheadrange
