Group: Abercrombie using ‘strong arm tactics’ to force Beverage Tax
By News Release @ 6:10 PM :: 6422 Views :: Energy, Environment

News Release from No Hawaii Beverage Tax:

It seems that Governor Abercrombie won’t give up when it comes to passing a new beverage tax.  But we won’t give up either.

Governor Abercrombie continues to pressure lawmakers to reintroduce his beverage tax proposal, and there’s a real possibility that lawmakers might resurrect this misguided legislation over the last few weeks of the legislative session.

The governor is now using strong-arm tactics to try to force some legislators into reviving his bill despite objections from the hardworking people of Hawaii like you.

We defeated this tax earlier this year.  But it is obvious Governor Abercrombie isn’t listening to the public’s opposition to paying more for their groceries.

Our Governor is supposed to be working for us, not placing an unfair burden on hardworking families by taxing everyday grocery items like soda, juice drinks and sports drinks. We have every right to be angry about the Governor’s continued efforts to impose a new beverage tax.

If the governor is successful in getting a beverage tax introduced during the final weeks of the legislative session, we’ll contact you again and ask for your help in telling legislators not to support his tax proposal.

As always, make sure you join our effort on Facebook and forward this email to family and friends.  Invite them to sign the petition at www.NoHawaiiBeverageTax.com, and join the fight against beverage taxes in Hawaii
