Grassroot team headed to Kauai for final legislative wrap-up event
It was mostly a good year for Hawaii at the 2024 Legislature, and policy experts from Grassroot will explain how that came to be
from Grassroot Institute
Following similar presentations earlier this month on Oahu and Hawaii Island, public policy experts from the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii will be on Kauai next week to discuss how some of this year’s most talked-about issues fared at the 2024 Legislature.
In short, many of the proposed bills supported by Grassroot fared well, while those that it opposed were mostly rejected.
The featured Grassroot speakers will be Keli‘i Akina, president and CEO; Joe Kent, executive vice president; and Ted Kefalas, director of strategic campaigns.
The luncheon presentation will take place in Lihue on Thursday, June 6, at Duke's Kauai in the Royal Sonesta Kauai Resort, 3610 Rice St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with lunch being served starting at 11:30 a.m. and the presentation starting at noon.
Admission is $10 and includes lunch and parking.
The discussion will focus on the groundbreaking passage of Grassroot-supported measures in the areas of taxes, healthcare and housing, including a measure sponsored in the House by Kauai Rep. Luke Evslin that was signed into law on Tuesday. (LINK: See story.)
The presentation will wrap up with a Q&A session for audience members.
