If you thought that was funny…
The president of The Actors’ Group in Honolulu wrote a play called "Building Permit" that pokes fun at the organization's experience moving their theater from Chinatown to Iwilei.
"We started in 2010 and it took us, as I recall, about five years to finally get the building permit, and then another year to finally pass inspection," Eric Nemoto told Hawaii Public Radio of his inspiration for the play.
On TAG's website, the play is described as being "based 50% on fact and 50% on fiction," but conveying "the 100% lunacy of TAG's six-year odyssey to obtain a building permit to renovate what is now The Brad Powell Theatre."
The show opens tonight and runs Thursdays through Sundays until Oct. 1. Some nights are already sold out — you can purchase tickets >>> here <<<.
