Applications Sought for Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection Board
News Release from Hawaii Judiciary
Applicants are being sought to fill a vacancy on the board of the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection (LFCP). The term for one of the non-attorney positions on the five-member board is expiring.
Board members oversee and administer the LFCP, the purpose of which is to reimburse -- to the extent provided by the Rules of the Hawaii Supreme Court -- losses caused by dishonest conduct of lawyers licensed to practice in Hawaii. Board members serve without compensation for a term of five years. Neighbor island members are compensated for travel costs incurred to attend the board’s quarterly meetings.
Interest persons who are not attorneys should send a letter and resume to:
Gayle J. Lau, Chair
Nominating Committee of the Hawaii Supreme Court
P. O. Box 26436
Honolulu, HI 96825
The deadline is March 31, 2011.
