News Release from Hawaii House Democratic Caucus, July 17, 2023
Waiʻanae, Hawaiʻi – Senator Maile S.L. Shimabukuro (D-22 Ko ‘Olina, Nānākuli, Mā‘ili, Wai‘anae, Mākaha, Mākua), Representative Darius K. Kila (D-44 Honokai Hale, Nānākuli, Mā‘ili), and Representative Cedric Asuega Gates (D-45, Wai‘anae, Mākaha) issued the following joint statement:
"Given the senseless murder that occurred over the weekend and the anticipated inclement weather forecast for the state of Hawaiʻi this week, we strongly urge the City to take immediate action in implementing and enforcing the Stored Property Ordinance (SPO) at Ulehawa Beach Park and its neighboring vicinities. It is crucial for the well-being and security of Leeward Coast residents that this area remains cleared and safe.
"Our hearts are with the individual who tragically lost their life in a senseless crime. We extend our deepest condolences to their family and community."
