EDITOR's NOTE:  The Hawaii GOP Convention adjourned May 6 without electing a State GOP Treasurer and two vice chairs.

The unresolved runoff for Treasurer pits 'Dalhouse Slate' Maui antivaxxer and 'spirit walker' Sheila Walker, leader of the failed effort to recall Maui Mayor Victorino, against GOP HD51 Vice Chair Jodi Beaty, part of the Rosecrans Slate, who boasts "over 30 years experience in the accounting field."

According to the CSC report from her failed 2022 State Senate campaign, Walker spent $850 campaign money at Tiffany & Co for "numerous hostess gifts."  Audio: Walker 'I'm not a bean counter' begins at 0:55 mark.

The Treasurer position has legally-defined obligations; just ask previous Hawaii GOP Treasurer Steve Holck.

Special Run Off Election Plan

Aloha fellow Hawai'i Republican Party members,   June 7, 2023

It is with pleasure that we announce the plan for the Special Run Off Election for the three remaining Executive Officer seats. The offices of Vice Chair of Coalitions, Vice Chair of Community Service and Treasurer remain held over due to the unprecedented circumstances deriving from the May 6th State Convention, and are not being treated as vacant offices as per HRP Rule 404E.

In collaboration with the Convention Elections Chair Mark White, Convention Credentials Chair Donna Miller and Vice Rules Chair Boyd Ready this Special Run Off Election plan has been voted on and approved by the Executive Committee. The Special Run Off Election will be conducted electronically utilizing Election Runner software. The voting period is open from June 19th - June 23rd to allow all credentialed delegates from the approved Convention Final Credentials Report to vote securely within their schedule.

Please see the Special Run Off Election Plan as part of this email for more information. Specific details and instructions will be sent to the credentialed delegates and the six runoff candidates separately.

We look forward to concluding the Officer Elections to complete the Executive Team, continue with the party business and WIN MORE in 2024!

County Newsletter 19

Aloha Honolulu County Patriots,   May 20, 2023

I’m sad to report that three State Committee Officer elections remain unresolved, now two full weeks past the Convention. Although I, and two other members of the State Executive Committee called for a meeting last week to address this and many other issues, that meeting remains unscheduled. I will continue to advocate for a solution that treats these elections as the run-offs that they are instead of vacancies as suggested by others. This in turn will ensure that the Delegates elected and appointed to make this decision will have their voice, instead of leaving it to the State Committee to decide.

As I mentioned last week, I will also advocate for a “post-mortem” meeting so that we can take an objective look at what did and didn’t work with the convention, with a goal of increasing transparency and communication and improving the experience for all. Codifying a process into our Standing Rules will allow us to start planning the next convention with a proven solution and then make iterative improvements to it after each future event.

Looking forward, we will begin organizing the various volunteer positions discussed previously. This has been delayed due to the unexpected time constraints resulting from the preparation for Convention, with the associated Rules Committee work that was required.

Lastly, Honolulu County will continue advocating for the much-needed updates to the HRP Rules so that we collectively improve the Party, ensure due-process for those accused of inappropriate actions, and make decisions at the appropriate Committee.

More to come!

All the Best,

Steve Lipscomb, Chair, Honolulu Republican Party

Run Off Election update

Aloha Members of the Hawai'i Republican Party,   May 18, 2023

I want to update you all on the pending three run-off elections (Vice Chair for Coalitions, Vice Chair for Community Service, and Treasurer).

In consultation with the Rules Chair, Rules Vice Chair, Convention Elections Chair, and Convention Credentials Chair, a Special Election plan has been developed that respects HRP Rules and historical precedence. The plan will soon be presented to the State Executive Committee for their feedback and concurrence. Once that is complete, I will be excited to release the finalized plan to you all with at least a seven day notice prior to executing the special election.

I would love to move faster with these run-offs, but the unprecedented outcome of the State Convention required that we proceed with all appropriate due diligence to ensure we get this right. Mahalo for your patience and understanding!

Aloha & Blessings,

Tim Dalhouse
State Chairman
Hawai'i Republican Party

Mahalo & Congratulations!

Aloha Members of the Hawai'i Republican Party,   May 8, 2023

I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity and privilege to have served as State Chairman of the Hawai‘i Republican Party. It has been an honor to work alongside such a dedicated and passionate group of individuals who share the same commitment to advancing our party's values and principles.

I am pleased to report that our party is on an upward trajectory, and we must remain focused on the task at hand, which is to elect Republicans into office. As we all know, the Democrats are ruining Hawaii, and we can only be a formidable challenger to their power if we stand UNITED. It's crucial that we work together to promote our platform and values, as well as to encourage more people to become active members of our party.

Hawaii is a special place because it is our home, and we must fight every single day to MAKE HAWAII GREAT AGAIN. Let us continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our voices are heard and that our party can make a positive impact on our beloved state.

I would also like to take this opportunity to officially introduce and congratulate our new State Chairman and the following Executive Committee members of the Hawai'i Republican Party:

  • Tim Dalhouse, State Chairman
  • Travis Lohi Goodwin, Vice Chairman for Coordinated Campaigns
  • Teri Savaiinaea, Vice Chairman for Candidate Training and Recruitment
  • Monique DePonte, Vice Chairman for Communications
  • Taylor Kaaumoana, Secretary

The positions of Vice Chairman for Community Service (Veamoniti Lautaha & Joelle Seashell), Vice Chairman for Coalitions (Keone Simon & Fenton Kaulana Lee), and Treasurer (Sheila Walker and Jodi Beaty) required run-off elections at Convention because no candidate in those races received more than 50% +1 of the votes.  However, because of time constraints, those elections were not completed at the Convention. Therefore, the run-off elections will be done by the State Committee at their next meeting to be scheduled by our new Chairman, Tim Dalhouse.

Wishing our new team much success.

Mahalo Nui Kākou!

Mahalo Message from New Chair Tim Dalhouse

Aloha Members of the Hawai'i Republican Party,  May 9, 2023

I want to express my sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support and congratulations from everyone upon my election as the new State Chairman of the Hawai'i Republican Party this past Saturday at the State Convention in Hilo. I am both encouraged and humbled by the trust and confidence you have placed in my leadership. I pledge to give my full effort and devotion to building our party into a formidable, smooth-running, election-winning machine that puts more Republicans in office in 2024 and beyond.

I want to thank all the superb Patriots who volunteered countless hours to put on the first ever State Convention in Hilo! I also want to thank immediate Past Chair, Diamond Garcia, for the outstanding work he did to lead our party over the last several months. With my election as your State Chairman, you have laid the groundwork for our future success, as I will implement the PROWIN strategy I campaigned on to WIN ELECTIONS:

  • Produce new and innovative funding
  • Recruit, train and inspire competitive candidates
  • Organize Districts for grassroots success
  • Win the hearts and minds of Hawai’i”s people
  • Institute election integrity at all levels
  • Never sacrifice the mission

I look forward to working with all Republicans across our Islands as we lock arms and advance on our shared goal to WIN ELECTIONS! We have the momentum from several major Republican upsets in our 2022 State Legislature elections. My PROWIN strategy will capitalize on that momentum and propel us forward to WIN MORE in 2024!

I will publish more information later this week on how the three run-off elections (Vice Chair for Coalitions, Vice Chair for Community Service, and Treasurer) will be conducted in accordance with HRP State Rules. As per Rule 404, the current officers in those positions will serve until their successors are elected.

Aloha & Blessings,

Tim Dalhouse

State Chairman

Hawai'i Republican Party
