Hawaii has the most expensive gas, nationwide

While gas prices have decreased nationwide, some states are still seeing exorbitant gas prices, especially in Hawaii. We found that Hawaii has the most expensive gas, nationwide.
LendingTree analyzed data from AAA and U.S. Energy Information Administration to find how gas prices have changed between March 2022 and March 2023. We were able to find the states and metro areas where gas prices have fallen the most. Here’s a quick look at what we found:
Hawaii has the most expensive average gas price in the country at $4.88.
Hawaii ranks 3rd among states where gas prices increased most over the past year. Gas prices in Hawaii jumped from $4.57 to $4.88, a 6.8% increase.
Colorado saw the largest increase in gas prices over the past year. Gas prices in Colorado saw a 19% increase.
Nationwide, gas prices are down 7.2%. The average gas price went from $3.95 to $3.36 per gallon over the past year.
