Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – Speaker Scott K. Saiki welcomes the public to Opening Day of the 2023 Legislative Session.

"With the reopening of the State Capitol and a return to in-person public meetings this session, the Capitol remains accessible for our residents," said Speaker Scott K. Saiki.

The House of Representatives will convene on January 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. as required by the Hawaiʻi Constitution. The convening of the session will mark the beginning of the 32nd State Legislature.

House floor proceedings will be aired live on 'Ōlelo Channel 49 and the Hawaiʻi House of Representative YouTube Channel.

The public is welcome to attend the Opening Floor Session, however seating will be limited. Access to the House Chamber Gallery will be from the rotunda and will open to the public at 9:45 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.

Officials expect a large crowd and encourage motorists to carpool or use public transportation. Public parking will not be available at the State Capitol. Suggested alternatives for parking include nearby public lots including the State Department of Health, Kalanimōkū Building Parking Lot, and 'Iolani Palace. Metered parking is available along King St. and Richards St. Additionally, several private lots in the area may also have availability.
