CIVIL UNIONS BILL PASSES SENATE JUDICIARY AND LABOR COMMITTEE
SB 232 Relating to Civil Unions
The bill extends the same rights, benefits, protections, and responsibilities of spouses in a marriage to partners in a civil union. Takes effect 1/1/2012.
The Senate Judiciary committee voted today 3 to 2 to pass the civil unions bill (SB 232) out of committee. The bill will now move to the full Senate for a vote. The vote in committee today was as follows:
- Senator Clayton Hee (SUPPORT)
- Senator Maile Shimabukuro (SUPPORT)
- Senator Mike Gabbard (OPPOSE)
- Senator Les Ihara, Jr. (SUPPORT)
- Senator Sam Slom (OPPOSE)
