WaPo: Abercrombie “taking the pole position of political surrealism”
Now that Alaska has resolved the Lisa Murkowski-Joe Miller-Sarah Palin soap opera, Hawaii is taking the pole position of political surrealism in the far-flung states. The new governor, Neil Abercrombie, an iconic longhair and college pal of Barack Obama's father, has decided to make knocking down Obama birther conspiracies his top political priority.
Hawaii's senior senator, Daniel Inouye, is also the most senior member of the Senate, making him third in line for the presidency. He is also, with Chicago Mayor Richard Daley's imminent retirement, higher up on the list of the nation's most powerful political bosses. There is even an effort underway by the University of Hawaii - which asks cars rolling through its campus to "drive with Aloha" - to compete with the renowned University of Chicago to play host Obama's presidential library. And in November, Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are expected to join other world leaders attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference in Honolulu.
"Most people recognize that these people are unreasonable and wrong," said Rep. Charles Djou (R), who in May won a special election to take over Abercrombie's seat in the House, but then lost the November vote to Democrat Colleen Hanabusa. "The governor's asserting of this in a way gives them more credibility than they deserve."

Governor Abercrombie’s recent pronouncements indicate to me, he believes no documents were available in the public record which could have provided a basis for the oath taken in 2008 by his Lieutenant Governor Brian Schatz, then Chair of the HI Democratic Party, to HI election officials guaranteeing then candidate Barack Obama was Constitutionally eligible for the office of POTUS, which sworn statement was required under HRS §11-113 before these officials could authorize his name to be printed on HI state ballots.
What does arouse my suspicion in HI is the ‘coincidence’ that Mr. Schatz, Chair of the HDP, taught in Kenya and went to school there, in the early ’90′s… What are the odds?

Will Obama Silence Blundering Abercrombie?
Maybe I'm the only one in the country," Abercrombie told the Los Angeles Times just before Christmas, "that could look you right in the eye right now and tell you, 'I was here when that baby was born.'"
A few days later, Abercrombie clarified to Mark Niesse of the Associated Press that he didn't exactly see Obama's parents with their newborn son at the hospital, but that he "remembers seeing Obama as a child with his parents at social events."
Although the major media have questioned why Abercrombie would raise an issue that, according to the Los Angeles Times, "most people see as resolved," they take Abercrombie at his word as to what he knows about the young Obama family.
They shouldn't. Abercrombie's boasts about his relationship with the president's presumed parents, Barack Obama, Sr. and Ann Dunham, have got to unnerve the president and his close advisors. They know something the media perversely choose not to know: Abercrombie is remembering a past that never happened….
As is thoroughly documented, Ann and little Barry were in Seattle two weeks later, where she enrolled at the University of Washington. By the time she returned to Hawaii in late summer or fall 1962, Barack Sr. had left for Harvard for good.
Citing Abercrombie as source, a 2007 Hawaii TV news report claimed that Ann "became estranged from her husband, Barack Obama[,] Sr., after his departure for Harvard."
