DJOU: OBAMA-GOP TAX BILL NOT PERFECT, BUT A GOOD BI-PARTISAN START

Washington, DC — Congressman Charles K. Djou (HI-01) issued the following statement regarding the tax bill passed this evening by the U.S. House of Representatives and sent to the President:

“Although this was not a perfect bill, I was happy to join Hawaii Sen. Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka in supporting President Obama’s compromise bill setting the tax rates for 2011. This is a reasonable bi-partisan measure that stops any tax increase from being imposed on any American during this current economic downturn.

“It is my hope that this act will be the start of further bi-partisan measures that I have long championed in my political career and finally start much needed job creation in our nation.”

Rep. Djou voted in favor of the Obama tax proposal that the President announced last week. Rep. Mazie Hirono was the only member of the Hawaii delegation who voted to oppose the President on this critical bill.
