HONOLULU – State Department of Human Services (DHS) Director Lillian Koller announced today that Hawai‘i residents can now submit online applications for Medicaid and other forms of public health insurance.
The new Kokua Online Application, available at http://kokua.dhshawaii.net, enables low-income residents and their advocates to enter and submit information electronically and then monitor each stage of the approval process to determine if additional information is required.
“Kokua will enable DHS staff to process Medicaid and other DHS public health insurance applications faster and more efficiently,” Koller said. “This modern and easy-to-use electronic tool will be a significant plus for needy residents, their advocates and our DHS employees.”
Kokua is the first interactive online application available for DHS public benefits. It is part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s efforts to provide more online services to increase convenience to the public and make government operations more efficient.
