Honolulu, HI – Hawaii Right to Life PAC continues to urge voters to scrutinize candidates’ positions on life issues and vote for those whose values support human life and dignity. Information about candidates who have pledged to respect life is listed on the organization’s web site at www.hrtl.org/vote.htm.

Janet Grace, executive director of Hawaii Right to Life stated, “We do not believe a person can be qualified for public office if he has no respect for the most innocent and vulnerable people in Hawai'i. Gubernatorial candidate Neil Abercrombie’s voting record is crystal clear: as a U.S. Congressman, he consistently voted against every piece of legislation that would have protected innocent human life. This sends a loud message to the people of Hawai'i that if an elected official does not respect the most fundamental of all issues—life—how can we trust him to lead us in any other issue? The facts cannot lie; Abercrombie’s proven voting record that devalues the dignity of human life proves he is not fit to govern.”

Hawaii Right to Life PAC has endorsed Abercrombie’s rival in the gubernatorial race, James R. “Duke” Aiona, Jr., as the only proudly pro-life candidate in Hawai'i’s contest for governor. As affirmation of his commitment to life-affirming values in public policy, Duke signed a candidate right-to-life pledge, the text of which is posted online at www.hrtl.org/vote.htm. The organization has noted that Aiona is an outspoken supporter of the right to life and that he has publicly demonstrated his strong commitment to human life and dignity through participation in numerous pro-life rallies and events.

Hawaii Right to Life is a non-profit organization that advances respect for life for all people, from conception to natural death. Founded in 1973, Hawaii Right to Life is the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee.
