Duke and Lynn Hold 22 Community Talk Stories

HONOLULU - Duke Aiona and Lynn Finnegan today announced the completion of their successful Connecting Communities initiative to meet with and listen to grassroots supporters and undecided voters in 22 communities throughout the state on the issues voters care about most and to lay out their vision for Hawai‘i.

“These talk stories have been an essential part of our detailed plan for a balanced, honest and fiscally responsible state government that creates job opportunities, strengthens the economy and reforms public education in Hawai‘i,” said Duke Aiona. “The working families and small businesses we met with have helped Lynn and I to form real solutions for all of our citizens, not the rhetoric and Washington-style politics our opponents want to bring to Hawai‘i."

More than 4,000 supporters and undecided voters throughout the state attended the Connecting Communities events, including such special guests as Congressman Charles Djou and candidates Tracy Bean, John Willoughby, Cam Cavasso and many others.

“We are truly honored by the outpouring of grassroots support we've seen in every community,” said Lynn Finnegan. "The people of Hawai‘i want leaders to spend taxpayer money responsibly and support family values. Duke and I are ready to begin work on day one to address the issues facing our hard-working families and small businesses. The community is ready to join us to ensure that education is student-focused in our state and that our opponents' tax-and-spend mentality is sent back to Washington.”

Democratic State Rep. Roland Sagum attended a Connecting Communities event on Kaua‘i. 

“Duke is the best person to serve as the next Governor of Hawai‘i,” said Rep. Sagum. “He is a true leader with integrity and good judgment who is not afraid to make tough decisions, and he has bold plans that will move Hawai‘i forward; that’s why I am willing to cross party lines to show my support and help elect Duke as our next Governor.”

Local radio personality Dawn O'Brien attended several Connecting Communities events to show her support for the Aiona-Finnegan campaign.

“Duke and Lynn are exactly the kind of leaders that Hawai`i needs,” said Dawn O'Brien. “They know firsthand the challenges of working and raising a family in Hawai`i, and unlike our opponents, they have real plans to make it easier to live and work in our islands."
