Aiona campaign calls on supporters to vote “yes” for appointed BoE
By News Release @ 11:59 AM :: 7559 Views :: Education K-12, Republican Party

From www.AionaFinnegan.com

There are only seven more days until we know who will be the next Governor and Lieutenant Governor of the State of Hawaii! Please continue your work on the ground getting the vote out! Encourage everyone you know to vote early and vote Aiona!

As many of you know, there are quite a few state and county amendments (depending on your county) on the ballot this year. So, I wanted to put out some information about these amendments.

1. Shall the B.O.E. be changed to a board appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, as provided by law?

We recommend YES so that there will be accountability (resting on the governor's shoulders) within the B.O.E.

2. Shall the legislature be provided with the choice, when the state general fund balance at the close of each of two successive fiscal years exceeds five per cent of the general fund revenues for each of the two fiscal years, to provide a tax refund or tax credit to the taxpayers of the State, or to make a deposit into one or more funds, as provided by law, which shall serve as temporary supplemental sources of funding for the State in times of an emergency, economic downturn, or unforeseen reduction in revenue?

We recommend NO because we don't want the legislature to have the opportunity to hoard the excess revenue and possibly use it for hidden agendas similar to the 'rainy day' funds of the past which have been raided to fund government expenses.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

For State Amendments a blank vote equals a no vote and for City Charter Amendments a blank vote equals a blank vote.

So please, do your research on the city charter amendments in your county and if you are unsure do not respond! Otherwise, take a stand and voice your opinion!

Aloha ke Akua,

Makana Aiona
