HONOLULU – Duke Aiona and Lynn Finnegan today announced that the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hawai‘i (JCCIH) has endorsed their campaign for Governor and Lt. Governor of Hawai‘i.
"Your positive stance on business issues and your desire for improving the business climate on the Big Island, and the economy as a whole, is greatly appreciated," wrote President Randall M. Kurohara and Jon J. Arizumi of the Political Action Committee in an endorsement letter.
"In order to create job opportunities, Lynn and I will improve Hawai‘i's business climate with real solutions, not Washington-style rhetoric," said Duke Aiona. "We will drive down the costs of doing business by reducing the pending unemployment insurance premium increase, reducing government-created delays, cutting business fees and assessments, reducing the cost of new hires through a tax credit and opposing tax increases. To facilitate immediate private sector job creation, we'll expedite $946 million of capital investment projects and use the small business preference and set-aside to expend over $200 million on local procurement."
The JCCIH remains focused on creating a sustainable economic environment in which businesses can flourish while providing meaningful job opportunities and thus fostering a healthy and vibrant community.

(Media release from JCCIH October 21, 2010) — The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hawaii, based in Hilo, have endorsed Republicans James “Duke” Aiona and Lynn Finnegan for governor/lieutenant governor.
Other endorsements include Democrats Daniel Inouye for U.S. Senate and Mazie Hirono for U.S. House District 2.
On the state level, endorsements include Democrats Russell Kokubun for state Senate District 2; for the state House, Mark Nakashima, District 1; Jerry Chang, District 2, Clift Tsuji, District 3; Robert Herkes, District 5; Denny Coffman, District 6 and Cindy Evans, District 7. There was no endorsement for District 4.
For the non-partisan County Council race, the JCCIH endorsed incumbents Emily Naeole-Beason for District 5 and Guy Enriques for District 6.
Chamber members received ballots by mail. About 51 percent of the membership submitted votes for endorsements.
“We’re proud of the respectable level of participation in the endorsement process,” said Randall M. Kurohara, JCCIH president.
The JCCIH has been serving the business community of East Hawaii for 60 years.
