Real Solutions, Not Just Rhetoric

HONOLULU - Lynn Finnegan today issued the following statement regarding the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce's candidate debate.

"On creating job opportunities, strengthening the local economy and reforming our public education system, Duke and I have formed detailed plans with the help and input of Hawai‘i's citizens to achieve real solutions - not just rhetoric.

"Our opponents are not giving straight answers to the people of Kaua‘i on important issues, such as conducting a comprehensive, independent audit of the Department of Education (DOE), or "card check" legislation, which Duke and I oppose because it takes away the right of workers to a private ballot.

"Our opponents have been unable or unwilling to explain where they will get upwards of $190 million to restore all public worker furloughs or make up for the tens of millions of dollars in other promises they are making to grow the size and scope of state government.

"Behind our opponents' plan is the fact that they would either cut more programs, raise taxes or fail to deliver on their promises. They simply cannot provide the types of government programs for which they advocate without raising the cost of living for Hawai‘i's hard-working families and businesses."
