HONOLULU – More than 2,000 grassroots supporters today joined Duke Aiona and Lynn Finnegan and their families for a pa‘ina in the park at Bishop Museum. Prior to the event, more than 400 supporters lined School Street and Likelike Highway to sign wave for the event.
"This campaign is about people,” said Duke Aiona. “And we have the biggest union in all of Hawai‘i: the union of the people. Our plan to create private sector jobs and strengthen the economy was formed with the input of those in the community. Every day we're seeing strong support for our ideas to make it easier for everyone to live, work and raise a family in a Hawai‘i they can afford and enjoy.”
Entertainment was provided by Roland Cazimero, Na Leo Kani, Angeli Callo, Mango Season, One Right Turn and other musical guests.
Duke and Lynn were joined by Hawaiian surf legends Tony Moniz, Dane Kealoha and Johnny Boy Gomes, who participated in a prize giveaway of family surf lessons and a signed 9' surfboard.
Lynn Finnegan sang "The Climb" and introduced her family to the thousands of supporters.
Vili the Warrior performed the haka to introduce Duke Aiona before his keynote remarks.
