FACT CHECK- HANABUSA COMMENTS ON HRP MOVING “STUNT”
From www.GOPHawaii.com
HONOLULU- HRP Chairman Jonah Ka’auwai issued the following statement:
"There are three things all voters of the First Congressional District need to know about Colleen Hanabusa's arrogant, misleading hypocrisy on living in the First Congressional District.
"First, it seems the First Congressional District is only good enough for her if she wins. In fact, yesterday she turned down help from the Hawaii Republican Party who volunteered to help her move, noting that she would move after she wins. The truth is voters are tired of this arrogant disrespect for the residents of the First Congressional District.
"Second, she has falsely accused Charles Djou of doing the same thing. This is simply untrue. The truth is, Charles Djou had already moved in 2002 when he ran for the Honolulu City Council. Charles Djou has been able to cast a vote for himself in every election he has run in.
"Third, she claimed that the Hawaii Republican Party's gesture of support and goodwill was simply a 'stunt.' This begs the question: was she engaging in the same so-called stunt in 2002 and 2006 when she claimed that living in the district you want to represent was important? The truth is, when she was running in the Second Congressional District, she was a very vocal advocate for very same thing that Charles Djou and the Hawaii Republican Party have been saying. This kind of hypocrisy is exactly what the voters of the First Congressional District will reject.
"Congressman Charles Djou isn't running for elected office because he feels entitled to it, he is running because he cares deeply about the community in which he lives. This integrity helped him win in May and will help him win again this November."
