Maui Chamber Endorses Duke Aiona and Lynn Finnegan

HONOLULU - Duke Aiona and Lynn Finnegan today announced that the Chamber of Maui Political Action Committee has endorsed their campaign for Governor and Lt. Governor of Hawai‘i.

“We appreciate Duke Aiona’s strong support for small businesses, especially on the Neighbor Islands, and his plan for long-term economic recovery,” said Pam Tumpap, president of the Maui Chamber of Commerce. “He has met personally with several of our members and talked in depth on the issues we believe will grow the local economy. Time and again, Duke Aiona has proven to be a steadfast leader, advocating for small businesses and advancing fiscally responsible policies. We stand beside him, pledging our support, eager for the leadership and positive changes he will bring.”

Subsets of the 14-member Political Action Committee met with candidates to identify those who were friendly to businesses. To receive the Chamber's endorsement as a "business friendly" candidate, each candidate had to meet a minimum score equating to 60 percent of the total points possible.

Duke Aiona and Lynn Finnegan's opponents did not meet the minimum score to qualify for an endorsement.

"I am honored to receive the support of the Maui Chamber of Commerce," said Duke Aiona. "These businesses form the backbone of our economy, and we must do what we can to make it easier for them to grow and create jobs. The Chamber has been a consistent and strong voice for the business community in Maui, and I will carry that voice forward to the Governor's Office."

"We're so thankful for this endorsement from the business community," said Lynn Finnegan. "This endorsement sends a strong message that our plan to create a business-friendly environment resonates among small businesses in Hawai‘i. Creating private sector jobs will be the top priority of an Aiona-Finnegan Administration, and we can't wait to get started.

Duke and Lynn's plan for jobs and the economy can be found online at www.AionaFinnegan.com/future/jobs.
