HONOLULU – Duke Aiona and Lynn Finnegan today joined with small business owners to accept an endorsement for Governor from the Hawai‘i Restaurant Association (HRA).
"The Hawai‘i Restaurant Association is excited to be supporting Duke Aiona for Governor," said Chris Colgate, chairman of the Hawai‘i Restaurant Association Board of Directors. "Our industry believes he has always supported many of our positions and is committed to keeping down the high cost of doing business in Hawai‘i."
“I'm honored to have the support of the Hawai‘i Restaurant Association, which includes many hard working small business owners,” said Duke Aiona. “Restaurants create jobs in the private sector that fuel our economy.”
An Aiona-Finnegan Administration will propose legislation to place time limits on the issuance of permits and approvals that will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of state government. They will also oppose increases in the General Excise Tax, which would increase the financial burden on small businesses and make it harder to create job opportunities. And they will propose legislation to adjust the tip credit.
HRA is a non-profit trade association dedicated to serving the needs of the restaurant, foodservice, hospitality and tourism industries in the state of Hawai‘i. The HRA works to represent, educate and promote this industry that is a cornerstone of the Hawai‘i economy – an industry with over 3,500 locations directly employing over 82,000 dedicated people.
