HAWAII REPUBLICAN PARTY NOT SILENT ANYMORE
News Release from Hawaii Republican Party, August 6, 2021
HONOLULU, HI – “I believe there are other solutions to explore that work to defeat Covid-19 and it’s variants. “Stop treating people who choose to not get the vaccine as if they are ignorant. Threats and strong-arming to force people to get vaccinated is just not right,” First Vice Chair Lynn Finnegan remarked.
The Hawaii Republican Party strongly opposes the government’s overreach to mandate vaccines.
Hawaii’s people from all over the islands see government tactics such as these as disgraceful. Hawaii Republican Party Chairwomen Signe Godfrey said, “We fully support people who decided to get the vaccine and those who did not get the vaccine. Government bully tactics should not be allowed.”
The governor and the mayors made a decision yesterday to mandate Covid-19 vaccination for all State and Counties’ employees or test weekly. “We are hearing from people who are very distraught about making a choice between finances and personal health choices,” said Mele Songsong.
“Vaccinated people can and have contracted Covid-19. Any testing requirements for State and County workers should be applied to all and then these mandated tests should be paid for by the State,” said Diamond Garcia, Vice Chair of Candidate Recruitment and Training.
