Abercrombie is Bad for Small Business, Favors Union Bosses over Hawaii Families
- While in D.C. as Congressman, Neil Abercrombie favored union labor bosses over Hawaii's families and small business. He consistently supported public union boss's agenda, including a vote to strip workers of their right to a secret ballot when voting to unionize (Vote 118, 3/1/07).
- Abercrombie consistently supports mandates that favor unions for government contracts, which reduce opportunities for Hawaii's small businesses and increase the cost to taxpayers. Most notably, Abercrombie attempted to drive up the cost of an important work project on Guam that is expected to create 15,000 jobs by forcing them to pay exorbitant wages, making the project unaffordable. Even Senator Inouye came out against Abercrombie’s proposal saying it would “shut local businesses” out of work. (The Hill, 9/22/09)
