Today, as we embark on the next phase of our campaign, we are launching a new television commercial entitled "Making A Difference."

It highlights my work in the short time I've been privileged to serve you as your congressman.  In that time, I fulfilled my campaign promise to co-sponsor a balanced budget amendment to require our government to live within its means.

As I believe that millions of individuals are better stewards of several hundred dollars than several hundred bureaucrats are at spending millions of dollars, I co-sponsored tax relief for individuals and small businesses.  I believe the path to economic recovery in our nation is not through more government jobs and government programs, but instead with more private sector jobs fueled by lower taxes and less wasteful government spending.

I also introduced legislation to expand free trade between the United States and South Korea and the Philippines.  By expanding our markets for American goods and services, we strengthen our economy and create needed jobs.

My family and I are humbled by the faith you have placed in us. Together, we can make a difference - we can change our community, our state and our nation for the better - but it'll take all of us working together over these next 44 days.  Mahalo in advance for all you have done and all that is to come.
