Analysis (BASED ON SECOND READ):

Governor:

On the Democratic side:

Abercrombie is defeating Hannemann 57.9 to 39.2% in first read, 59.4% to 37.8% in second read.

This will result in a mad scramble to win the allegiance of Hannemann’s voters and his key supporters.  It also means that the result is the opposite of the 1986 race where Hannemann won the Democratic nomination, Abercrombie’s supporters sulked, and Pat Saiki won the general. 

On the Republican side.  Both Aiona and Djou are winning strong loyalty from Republican voters.  Aiona has 93.5% of the vote and Djou has 94.7%. On SECOND READ, little changed.

US Senate:

Cam Cavasso is leading for the Republican nomination to face Inouye.  On SECOND READ, little changed. 

CD 2:

Ramsay Wharton leads John Willoughby by 197 votes.  On second read, Willoughby leads Wharton by 338.  In final read, Willoughby wins 8,018 to 7,806.

Lt Governor:

Republican:

Finnegan beating King 59.2% to 27.3% -- On SECOND READ, little changed.

Democrat:

Larry Mehau associate Brian Schatz is at 37.9 with old boys Sakamoto at 19.55 and Bunda at 15.7%.  This means that the Abercrombie –Schatz ticket will consist of Mehau’s pick Abercrombie and Mehau’s barn-guest Schatz.  On SECOND READ little changed.

Earning well deserved oblivion: anti-Superferry protester Gary Hooser at 9.7%, and Lyla “Islam Day” Berg at 8.0%

State Senate:

SD2 -R Hale ahead of McIntosh by 21 votes.  Hale pulls further ahead on second read.

SD7 –R Georgi ahead of Hamman by 30 votes.  On second read Hamman leads Georgi by 57.

SD19 –D Mike Gabbard trouncing Mike “Bitch Bear” Golojuch 69.6% to 23.5%

SD22 –D  Don Delacruz with 39.1% is trouncing all comers in a four-way race.  Looks like justice is being done to charity shake down artist Mike Magaoay who is tied for second with 23.9%.  On second read, Magaoay falls further behind into thrid place. 

SD25 –D three way race with 51 votes separating Ryan, Prentiss, and Jamila. (This is Fred Hemmings’ old seat)  On second read it is Prentiss followed by Ryan then Jamila.

SD25- R Enos leads Pandolphe 59.9% to 23.2% (This is Fred Hemmings’ old seat)  On second read Enos leads 46.35 to 33.0%.

State House:

HD4 – D Faye “Islam Day” Hanohano is just 2 votes ahead of Anthony Marzi.  On second read Hanohano leads by 94 votes.  The winner will face Republican Marlene Hapai who is better funded than either of them.

HD10 –R Ron Paul Republican Ramon Madden is leading Chayne Marten  63 to 36.  On SECOND READ, he still leads.

HD11 –D Rep. Joe Bertram, famous for his appeal for leniency on behalf of a convicted child predator is winning the Democrat contest with 46.7%.  On SECOND READ, little changed.  He will face off against Republican George Fontaine.  

HD16 –D Rep Ron Sagum is behind HGEA’s handpicked Dee Morikawa who leads 58.8% to 34.6%.  On SECOND READ, little changed. The winner will face Republican Phil Sterker.

HD18 -D Hashem 35.9% – Lane 30.55 – Lee 15.6%.  On SECOND READ, little changed.  The winner will face Republican Chris Baron in this Republican leaning district which used to be the seat of Rep Lyla “Islam Day” Berg.

HD20 –D House Speaker Calvin Say is stomping the gay-atheist-HGEA candidate Dwight Synan 68.2% to 27.2%.  On SECOND READ, little changed.

HD25 –R Sabey 42.6% Mohr 24.7% Park 9.3% the winner will face off with Della Au Belatti. On SECOND READ, little changed.

HD32 –D Lei Sharish leads three way Democrat race to face off with Republican Aaron Ling Johanson for Lynne Finnegan’s old seat.  On SECOND READ, little changed.

HD33 –D Gay marriage activist Blake Oshiro leads 52.4% to 44.3% against Councilman Gary Okino.  On SECOND READ, little changed 53.9% to 41.6%.

HD38 –R Kawakami leads three-way Republican race to face off against incumbent Marilyn Lee.  On SECOND READ, little changed.

HD41 -D Chun 406 vs Cullen 362.  On second read Cullen takes lead over Chun 43.7% to 38.4%.

HD41 -R Wong 78 vs Cordero 44  On SECOND READ, little changed.

HD42 -D Molester employer Rep. Rida Cabanilla 395 vs Mike Schultz 349.  On second read, the molester's emloyer leads 51.7% to 45.5%. -- winner will face Republican Tom Berg.

HD45 looks like it will be Jaydeen Meyers for the GOP against incumbent Shimabukuro.  On SECOND READ, little changed.

HD46 Looks like Sagaysay will take the Democrat nomination to face off against Republican Gil Rivere.  On SECOND READ, little changed.  This is Magaoay’s old seat. 

BoE: (pick 3)

Transsexual incumbent Mr Kim Coco Iwamoto 16,849

HSTA boss Roger Takabayashi 11,342  slips back to 5th on Second read

Incumbent Randall Yee 11,266.

Former legislator Brian Yamane 11,056  3rd place on Second read.

Sixth place on second read is Melanie Bailey with 4.2%.

Hawaii County Council

CD5 Puna: Community activist Fred Blas 35.3%, incumbent Emily Naeole 25.7%, James Weatherford 21.5%  Top two will run off unless one breaks 50%.  On second read it is Blas 31.4% to Naeole 28.8%.

CD6 Kau: Incumbent Guy Enriques 39.4%, Jacobson surrogate Brittany Smart 31.5% two others. Top two will run off.  On second read, Smart bests Enriques 35.3% to 33.9%.  

CD7 N&S Kona: Ford 58% Friere 31%.  On SECOND READ, little changed.

CD8 N Kona Pilago 42.7% Hecht 22.4% Rath 17% top two will run off…  Same top three on second read.  GTMO Greenwell comes in last with 9.2%.

Maui Mayor:Tavares 30.5%, Arakawa 22.0%, Piltz 19.5%  Second read it's Tavares 25.0% -- Arakawa 24.8%.

Maui Council

W Maui: Fukuyama vs Cochran  Second read Cochran leads 28.4% to 19.4%.

S Maui: Republican Don Couch 41.3% vs developer financed Nishiki 36.4%.  Seond read Couch 39.6% to Nishiki 37.7%.  

Honolulu Mayor:

Carlisle 42.1%, Caldwell 36.1% Prevedouros 15.2%.  On second read it is Carlisle 39.15 to Caldwell 34.8% to Prevedouros 18.4%.

Honolulu Prosecutor:

Kaneshiro 41.7%, Pacarro 31.9% (endorsed by Carlisle), Republican Darwin Ching 15.1%.  On SECOND READ, little changed.

Honolulu Council:

DIST IV: ILWU/UPW endorsed Stanley Chang leads Democrat Rich Turbin 35.5% to 33.1% for Charles Djou’s old seat.  On SECOND READ, little changed.

DIST VI: Tulsi Gabbard Tamayo 25.5% Moepono 15.9% Nakasato 11.1%.  On SECOND READ, little changed.
