ED CASE HAS NO CREDIBILITY IN THREE-WAY RACE SPECIAL ELECTION STRATEGY
HONOLULU-- HRP Executive Director Dylan Nonaka released the following statement on Ed Case's strategy memo regarding the Honolulu Mayor's race:
"Voters should disregard the email sent out by Ed Case last night commenting on the Honolulu Mayor’s race.
"Case has no credibility when it comes to three-way special election strategy. Just four months ago, he was telling Democrats that they should vote for him because if they did not, Charles Djou might win the special election for Congress. In the end, he finished third and proved that he should have been telling his voters not to vote for him if he really wanted a Democrat to win the seat.
"Now he is telling supporters of Panos Prevedouros to vote for Peter Carlisle because if they don’t, Kirk Caldwell might win. It is clear that this is a last ditch effort to save a campaign which has slipped in the polls and is losing steam.
"Panos supporters should not be deterred. They know that their campaign is surging and has momentum on their side. It is clear that Panos won the debate last night and the thousands of calls and voter contacts made by his grassroots team is having an effect.
"To try and discourage voters from voting for Panos is a shameful last act for a career politician like Case to make as he fades off into obscurity."
