Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) is pleased to announce that Joey Manahan has joined the agency as the Director of Government Relations & Public Involvement. In addition, we would also like to introduce our newest HART Board Members including Jeoffrey Cudiamat, Natalie Iwasa, J. Roger Morton, Joseph O’Donnell, and Dean Uchida. Welcome aboard!
Mr. Manahan served the past eight years on the Honolulu City Council, and prior to that he served six years in the Hawaii State Legislature. During his 14 years of service as an elected official he has held numerous positions, including the chair of the Council’s Budget Committee and Vice Speaker of the House at the state level. Manahan was also the former Chair of the Honolulu City Council’s Transportation Committee from 2015 to 2017 where he provided oversight for the State of Hawaii’s largest capital improvement project, the Honolulu Rail Transit Project.
Mr. Cudiamat, CEO of Structural Hawaii, Inc., is a licensed professional structural and civil engineer who oversees operation of the firm’s design and engineering personnel. Engaged in design-build ventures, Mr. Cudiamat also owns and operates the contracting company Structural Builders Hawaii, Inc., working in collaboration with design firms on private sector commercial developments and residential projects.
Ms. Iwasa has over 25 years of experience in public accounting and is a CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner. She has been active in the community on various boards and commissions, including the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board, Honolulu City Council Real Property Tax Advisory Commission and the Stakeholder Advisory Committee for the Statewide Long-Range Land Transportation Plan.
Mr. Morton is serving as Director Designate of the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Transportation Services (DTS). Mr. Morton is a transportation professional whose Hawaii career spans over 40 years. Prior to his appointment as DTS Director, Mr. Morton spent 15 years as President and General Manager of O‘ahu Transit Services, Inc., the operator of the City and County of Honolulu’s TheBus and Handi-Van system.
Mr. O'Donnell is serving as the Financial Secretary/Treasurer and Business Manager for the Ironworkers Union Local 625 and is a Trustee of all funds for the Hawaii Ironworkers Trust Fund. Mr. O’Donnell has over 50 years of experience in the local Construction Industry and enjoys supporting local philanthropic activities for the community.
Mr. Uchida is serving as Director Designate of the Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) for the City and County of Honolulu. Mr. Uchida was most recently, a Senior Project Manager in SSFM’s Strategic Services Group and provides real estate advisory and project management services to a wide cross section of private corporations and public agencies.
