DJOU STATEMENT ON ANNIVERSARY OF TERRORIST ATTACKS OF SEPTEMBER 11
“Nine years later, we remember the tragedy wrought and the heroism unveiled that fateful day.”
Honolulu, HI — Congressman Charles K. Djou (HI-01) issued the following statement today commemorating the ninth anniversary of the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001:
“Nine years ago, America—and the world—changed forever. We were attacked on our own homeland and watched in horror as buildings fell, innocent lives were taken and chaos ensued. We will never forget the pain of 9/11. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those who lost loved ones that day.
“Nine years ago, amid the confusion, shock and rubble, we witnessed something remarkable unfold. Out of the ashes, American courage and charity emerged. Our resilience as a people was tested and strained, but it did not break. We came together and rose above the pettiness that so often marks our day-to-day reality.
“Nine years later, we remember the tragedy wrought and the heroism unveiled that fateful day. We honor those brave men and women who defend our freedom to this day. It is their noble service that ensures America will always be the land of the free and the home of the brave.
“It has been said that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance, and that is as true today as ever. Nine years later, on the anniversary of a day that our nation will never forget, we recommit ourselves to pursuing justice and preserving liberty.”
