Lt. Governor Aiona on Thursday delivered remarks on the importance of providing affordable, quality health care at a dedication ceremony for a new Shriners Hospital for Children in Honolulu. The hospital will help provide specialty care and innovative research for children from Hawai`i and the Pacific Northwest.
"Shriners Hospital in Honolulu has played and important role in improving the lives of our keiki by providing quality health care, free of charge, within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment," Lt. Governor Aiona said.
Every year, the hospital provides care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate.
In addition, Shriners Hospitals for Children is an international health care system with 22 hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing innovative research and outstanding teaching programs.
