2020 Election Dates

From Hawaii Office of Elections

Beginning with the 2020 Elections, Hawaii votes by mail and all voters will automatically receive their ballot in the mail 18 days prior to each election.

General Election: November 3, 2020

All voted ballots must be received by your Clerk’s Office no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election day.

Ballots Mailed:

  • County of Hawaii: October 7, 2020
  • County of Maui: October 8, 2020
  • County of Kauai: October 9, 2020
  • City and County of Honolulu: October 5 & 6, 2020

Ballots Received By: October 16, 2020

Contact your County Elections Division if you have not received your ballot by this date.

Ballots Returned: October 27, 2020

Recommended last day to return your voted ballot by mail. After this date, voters must return their ballot to a place of deposit (ballot drop box).

Signature Verification Card

Every registered voter will receive in the mail a signature verification card from their County Clerk’s Office. The voter will need to sign the card and mail it back by the deadline on the card. This card will be used to verify the voter’s signature to ensure the mailed in ballot belongs to the voter.

If a voter has not received a signature verification card by May 30, 2020 contact their Clerk’s Office or visit olvr.hawaii.gov to verify their voter registration, mailing address, etc. See sample:

2020 Election Dates

All ballots MUST be received by their County Clerk no later than 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

If a voter still has their ballot in their possession 3 days (or less) prior to these dates it is recommended that they drop off their ballot at a Voter Service Center or Places of Deposit (listed below soon).

If a voter is voting in-person at a Voter Service Center and they are in line by 7:00 pm on Election Day they will be able to vote.

Voter Registration Deadline (to have a ballot mailed to them)

General: October 5, 2020

Absentee Ballot Request Deadlines

For currently Registered Voters to have a ballot mailed to a different address than their mailing address on-file. The voter will need to submit a request for an absentee ballot for every election they are away from their Hawai‘i residence or primary residence.

General: October 27, 2020

Voter Service Centers Dates, Hours & Locations

Voter Service Centers will allow for in-person voting, and same-day voter registration. The voter is required to vote at the time they register if they are taking advantage of same-day voter registration.

October 20, 2020 through Election Day, November 3, 2020

Hours:

  • Monday thru Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Excluding Sundays)
  • Election Day 7:00 am – 7:00 pm
