DJOU ATTENDS DEPLOYMENT CEREMONY FOR HAWAII SOLDIERS

Washington, DC — Congressman Charles K. Djou (HI-01) released the following statement after attending a mobilization ceremony for the 305th MPAD/9th MSC at Schofield Barracks:

“I was honored to attend the mobilization ceremony today (Sunday Aug 8, 2010) for the 305th MPAD/9th MSC. It was a particularly special honor to be with a number of soldiers from the 1101st GSU, my former unit in the Army Reserve, who will be deploying to Iraq with the 305th

“Today's ceremony was a timely opportunity to remember the threats that face our nation. Even as we move closer to achieving sustainable success in Iraq and Afghanistan, I am wary of the growing threat of instability on the Korean Peninsula. Today's mobilization of Hawaii citizen soldiers and yesterday's seizure by North Korea of a South Korean fishing vessel is an apt reminder to all of us that this is still a dangerous world. This is something I am acutely aware of, not just as a Member of Congress, but as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve. We must ensure that all our brave men and women in uniform are given the support and resources they need to get the job done, and get home safe.”

Congressman Charles Djou serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve and was formerly assigned the 1101st GSU which has since been reformed as the 3302nd MSB, which coordinated today’s ceremony. Congressman Djou served with many of the soldiers mobilized today in the 305th when he served in the 1101st.
