County announces changes in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Boards and Commissions meetings

News Release from County of Kauai, April 15, 2020

LĪHU‘E – The County of Kaua‘i announces the following County-related changes in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Boards and Commissions meetings in order to provide for the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Kaua‘i from the potential spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Meetings will be conducted remotely, and all testimony must be written and sent to the respective commission 24 hours before each meeting. Instructions are included in agendas posted on https://www.kauai.gov/BoardsandCommissions.

On March 16, 2020, Governor Ige issued a supplemental Emergency Proclamation which in part suspended Hawai’i Revised Statute 92. However, Commissions will accept written testimony. Additionally, minutes of the meetings will be taken, and the open session minutes will be made available when possible.

To view a copy of the emergency proclamation and emergency rules, visit the County of Kaua‘i’s website at www.kauai.gov/KEMA.
