Yesterday was the filing deadline for candidates in Hawaii. In 2008, we left 29 seats uncontested, and it cost us BIG time.
Today, I am proud to announce that there is a Republican candidate in 95% of the legislative races this year. We filled 49 of the 51 House races and 12 of the 13 Senate races. In total, there are 94 Republican candidates running for election from Governor to the Board of Education.
In contrast, the Democrats left three of our Republican House incumbents unopposed. We had to find 58 candidates to challenge their incumbents and we found 55. They only had to find 6 candidates to challenge our incumbents and they only found three. This is a huge sign of the strength of our party and we should all be very proud.
As you can see from the pictures below, we have a team of candidates who span all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. This outstanding group of people have stepped forward to bring the character and values our state needs to the legislature and we need your help to get them into office.
We shocked Democrats in May with Charles Djou’s Victory, and we have shocked them again today with an overwhelming number of Republicans on ballots this election year.
