Filing Deadlines Resume on April 6

News Release from Hawaii Judiciary, April 1, 2020

HONOLULU — On March 19 and March 20, 2020, in light of the COVID-19 global pandemic, and in the interest of public safety and access to justice, Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald issued two orders extending certain deadlines in the appellate, circuit, district and family courts to April 6, 2020, for actions that were required between March 23, 2020 through and including April 3, 2020.  The extended deadline of April 6, as set forth in the orders, is being maintained and will not be extended further.

The Judiciary also wants to take this opportunity to emphasize that we are committed to getting the work of the courts done, while protecting the health and safety of everyone. There have been a number of operational adjustments, as set forth in the various orders that have been entered. Our electronic filing system remains unchanged, and our circuit court judges continue to adjudicate civil matters remotely in consultation with the respective parties. This includes conducting remote hearings, converting hearing motions to non-hearing motions, or making other arrangements as appropriate.
