FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Honolulu, HI - Congressman Charles K. Djou released the following statement after filing for reelection as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii's First Congressional District:

"It has been an extraordinarily humbling privilege to represent the people of Hawaii in the United States Congress. It is because of their support that I have been given the amazing opportunity to advocate on their behalf on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. I believe that our federal government is spending too much of the taxpayers' hard-earned money on programs that don't work with absolutely no plan to pay it back. This irresponsible governance is what I went to Washington to stop, and that is what I will continue to do if the people give me the opportunity to represent them in the 112th Congress."

Congressman Djou was elected to Congress in a twelve candidate special election on May 22, 2010, defeating his second closest competitor by 9 percentage points. No incumbent member of Hawaii's congressional delegation has ever been defeated seeking reelection in Hawaii state history.
