Governor Lingle will announce the bills she is vetoing at a news conference at 3PM in Executive Chambers. Meanwhile Hawaii Family Forum today sent out an email message stating: “We are hearing that members of the House are getting strong pressure from proponents to hold a special session.”
Speaker Calvin Say decided July 2 not to hold a Special Session to consider overriding HB444 and other bills which Governor Lingle has placed on her “intent to veto” list. Without agreement from the House, the Senate then abandoned its plan to hold a Special Session.
Today is the last day for Governor Lingle to act on any veto decisions. Any bill which she does not veto today would automatically become law without her signature.
