Rep Pat Saiki endorses Ramsay Wharton for Congress--District 2
By News Release @ 10:10 AM :: 8781 Views :: Energy, Environment, National News, Ethics

Dear Neighbors,

You and I have a great opportunity to help usher in the next generation of leaders to represent Hawai`i in Washington, D.C. We have worked together to help Charles Djou reach victory and now we have a second chance to win the other district (District 2-Rural Oahu and Neighbor Islands) with my friend, Ramsay Puanani Wharton.

I am honored to serve as Honorary Chairman of her campaign. Perhaps you saw Ramsay Wharton when she anchored and reported for Sunrise on KGMB9 News? Her energy and enthusiasm was contagious. She brought intelligence and a fresh perspective to her reports on issues and events facing us here in the islands. But more than that she brought a concern for, and a connection to, the people which they knew was real.

Ramsay is unlike most others who have stepped forward to serve the people of Hawai`i. She understands what we are going through and perhaps most unique to someone in politics...she actually listens to what we want done in our Nation's Capital. She will stand up for us! She will fight to keep our taxes low, help create real jobs, and rein in the out of control spending.

Under her leadership, Hawai`i will remain a focal point of our National Security and she will work to strengthen and expand our ties with our Asia-Pacific neighbors. Also, when elected, Ramsay will not only be the second Republican woman to serve in Congress from Hawai`i, after me, but also the first woman of Hawaiian and Chinese ancestry. What a wonderful historic first of which we all can be proud.

It is time for Mazie to retire and come back to the Islands. We need a fresh pair of eyes and new ideas in Washington to ensure we find new solutions. Ramsay and Charles will provide us the new generation of leadership befitting the Aloha state.

Mahalo Nui,

Pat Saiki, Former Member of Congress
