HB 444 (Civil Unions) on Potential Veto List
News Release from Hawaii Family Forum
Today, the Governor added HB 444 (civil unions) to her potential veto list.
What that means is that she is notifying the legislature, as our state law requires, of her potential veto. Today was the deadline for this notice to be given. She has until July 9th to actually veto it.
What it doesn’t mean is that the bill is dead. Technically she could do nothing and the bill could become law without her signature.
We are asking you to continue your grassroots efforts to encourage her to veto. The Star Advertiser today reported that 85% of the respondents are asking for a veto! (See article here) Your hard work is making a difference but the battle is far from over.
Churches and Pastors should encourage their congregations to continue to contact the Governor’s office. To send an email to the Governor, click here.
Call the Governor today (if you have not done so already) at (808) 586-0034 (Oahu); (808) 974-6262 (Hilo); (808) 274-3100 (Kauai); (808) 327-4953 (Kona); (808) 243-5796 (Maui).
Mahalo for all your time and prayers!
