Djou opens Honolulu office, visits families in Ewa, Hawaii Kai

Aloha and I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Father's Day weekend.  For me, being a good Congressman means being a good husband and a good dad.

I spent this weekend with families in Ewa at the Ewa Hongwangi Bon Dance and in Hawaii Kai at the annual Father's Day pancake breakfast at Kaiser High School hosted by the Lion's Club.  I even had the privilege of volunteering at the latter event.

As I reflect on Father's Day and the wonderful time all of us cherish with our families, I am also struck by what Congress is doing to our families.  Today $.43 of every $1 spent by the Federal government is debt financed.  Nearly half of all of our spending for today is being shifted to our children to pay for in the future.  This is simply irresponsible and cannot continue.

As your congressman, when I vote on a government spending proposal, I always check to see whether it is financed by debt.  Many spending proposals may sound good on their face, but they must be worth the cost.  If I am not confident that a new project is worth mortgaging our children's future, you can trust that I simply will not vote for it.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve.  I take that responsibility very seriously and for every day that I have the privilege of representing you, I will do my very best.  If I or my office can be of assistance to you, please feel free to contact us any time.

Mahalo and Best Wishes!

Charles K. Djou
Member of Congress
Hawaii, First District

DJOU STATEMENT ON HONOLULU OFFICE BLESSING AND FORMAL OPENING CEREMONY

Honolulu, HI Congressman Charles Djou (HI-01) released the following statement to commemorate the formal opening of his Honolulu office:

“I am pleased to formally open my Honolulu office. This office will be an important resource for constituents in Hawaii's First Congressional District, helping people to navigate the morass of federal bureaucracy and simply listening to their concerns on a wide variety of issues. This office, like me, is here to serve the people of Hawaii.”

Congressman Charles Djou's Honolulu office began serving constituents during the Congressman’s first week in office. The office was formally opened today with a traditional Hawaiian blessing by Kahu Sherman Thompson. The district office is an important part of the Congressman’s outreach to constituents. The office will help constituents deal with federal agencies, assist with service academy nominations and relay constituent concerns and comments on pending legislation.
