“I was honored to participate in this celebration of the 112th anniversary of the Republic of the Philippines,” Djou said. “The Philippines is a critical ally of the United States and the Filipino culture is an important part of Hawai‘i where roughly one-fifth of the population is Filipino.
“We must ensure that the connection between the United States and the Philippines remains strong. One of my priorities in Congress is to strengthen our nation’s ties to the Philippines and expand the number of visas that our government issues, particularly to the Philippines,” Djou continued.
“I will continue to advocate for a vibrant American-Filipino relationship and for policies that protect the best interests of Hawai‘i,” Djou concluded.
