HAWAII DEMOCRATS VOTE FOR HIGHER TAXES BUT STAY QUIET ON EDUCATION, ECONOMY

HONOLULU—Today the Democratic Party of Hawai’i held its State Convention and clearly displayed that they are out of touch with the people of Hawai’i. Instead of addressing issues of importance to the people of Hawai’i, they focused on passing resolutions supporting physician assisted suicide, gay civil unions and increasing taxes on people who grow the economy and create jobs.
“The proceedings today demonstrated that today’s Democratic Party does not care about improving our economy, creating jobs or fixing our broken education system. They would rather focus on destroying human life in its final stages, punishing achievement through a “progressive” tax code and disregarding the wishes of voters by imposing gay marriage under a different name,” stated Hawai’i Republican Party Chairman Jonah Ka’auwai.
Ka’auwai continued, “Candidates for Governor, Neil Abercrombie and Mufi Hannemann both talked about the values of the Democratic Party but failed to mention what those values are. By the actions taken today by their party it is clear they believe in larger government, a higher tax burden, destroying human life and disrespecting the vote of the people. Are these the values that Abercrombie and Hannemann want to bring to the Governor’s office? “
In contrast, the Hawai’i Republican Party adopted a platform clearly stating their values of Liberty, Limited Government, Individual Responsibility, Fiscal Accountability and Equality of Opportunity at their State Convention two weeks ago.
