Leadership Change at ODC

Bruce Kim is no longer Chief Counsel of the Office of Disciplinary Affairs, the Hawaii Judiciary office handling errant lawyers.

Disciplinary Board Chair Clifford Nakea tells Hawai’i Free Press: “Mr. Kim is no longer employed by the board, his cases have been assigned to the deputy disciplinary counsels….”

As usual with personnel matters, ODC staff are tight-lipped about the circumstances, but the new ODC Executive Director, Bradley R Tamm, says he has been in his newly-created position since “early-September.”

In case any crooked lawyers think they’re getting off the hook, Tamm says there has been no effect on the ODC’s workload.

Interim ODC lead is Deputy Chief of Disciplinary Counsel Rebecca Salwin.

ODC was unable to provide a timeline for recruiting a new Chief.

In an unsolicited email to Hawai’i Free Press, Honolulu attorney Gary V Dubin, exults: “…shortly after the Hawaii Supreme Court recently refused to suspend me, no surprise, and don’t be silly, that had nothing to do with John Waihee, your friend, head of the ODC, Bruce Kim, was fired.  Do you always bet on the wrong horse?”

Dubin is set for mid-November disbarment proceedings before the Board of Disciplinary Counsel.

HNN Jan 2018: "Attorney Eric Seitz is calling for the removal of the head of the Office of Disciplinary Counsel after the ODC cleared embattled lawyer and Honolulu Deputy Prosecutor Katherine Kealoha of ethical violations."
