DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FILL HART BOARD VACANCY

From HART Weekly E-News, July 20, 2018

The deadline for persons seeking to apply for the vacant community member position on the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) Board of Directors has been extended to Tuesday, July 31, 2018.  The community Board member will serve a term to expire on June 30, 2023.

The HART Board members serve as part-time volunteers and are responsible for establishing policies pertaining to the development of the rail transit system. The eight voting members of the Board collectively choose the ninth voting member to represent the overall community.

Under the provisions of the Honolulu City Charter, there are eight voting Board members; three each appointed by the Mayor and City Council, along with the City Director of Transportation Services and the State Director of Transportation.  Collectively, they select a ninth voting Board member to represent the community.  In addition, the City's Director of Planning and Permitting, as well as two appointees each of the State Senate President and Speaker of the House, serve as ex-officio, non-voting members of the board, for a total of 14 members.

Applicants must submit a HART Board Application Form, along with a cover letter and resume via email by Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. (Hawaii Standard Time) to HART Board Executive Officer Cindy Matsushita at cmatsushita@honolulu.gov.

Materials can also be mailed to:

All mail-in applications must be postmarked by July 31, 2018.  All applications must include your current mailing address and a daytime telephone number.
