Governor Lingle Invites Public Comments On Legislation

The Governor is encouraging the public to provide input and comments on 250 bills passed by the 2010 Legislature.

As part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s comprehensive process of reviewing legislation passed this session by the Legislature, Governor Linda Lingle is encouraging the public to provide input and comments on 250 bills.  A list of these bills may be found here.

The Governor has until July 6 to sign, veto or allow the measures to become law without her signature.

Governor Lingle Invites Public Comments On Legislation

Bills passed by the Legislature are being carefully reviewed by the Governor’s policy team, as well as the Attorney General’s office for legal implications, the Department of Budget and Finance for fiscal and budgetary implications, and appropriate departments and agencies.

As she has done since taking office, the Governor is seeking comments on bills from the public, including individuals, businesses, industry and professional associations, labor unions, nonprofit groups, and community organizations statewide.  In addition, the Administration is soliciting input from the counties, law enforcement agencies and state boards and commissions.

“I encourage the public to continue to participate in the legislative process by providing input on the impact each piece of legislation would have on our state,” said Governor Lingle.  “I look forward to reading the final bills and making the appropriate decisions on behalf of all the people of Hawai‘i.”

Comments may be sent to the Governor’s office as follows:

Email: gov.policy@hawaii.gov or governor.lingle@hawaii.gov

Fax: (808) 586-0006

Mail: Office of the Governor
