Report: Hawaii’s Billion-Dollar Consensus Proves Nobody Really Believes in Sea Level Rise

by Andrew Walden

The Sea Level Rise Report adopted Dec 28 by the State Climate Commission exists solely for the purpose of providing an excuse to impose a carbon tax on Hawaii and jack up electric rates even higher than they are already.

Actual observations of sea level rise in Honolulu are a measly 1.41 millimeters per year (p23—above).  That just isn’t enough to force any policy changes.  According to NOAA, sea level is declining sharply in the northern reaches of North America and Europe.

In order to fill the gap, the legislatively-mandated hypesters insert a computer projection of 1 meter sea level rise which will magically begin occurring from this point onwards (p28-below).  A study cited on page 259 is titled, “Is the detection of accelerated sea level rise imminent?”  With these guys everything is always ‘imminent’.

The rest of the report is 304 pages of fearmongering—entirely based on the computer projection--which nobody actually believes.  This ‘consensus’ of disbelief is proven by the massive investment in sea-level construction of Kakaako condos and Honolulu Rail.

The deca-billion dollar contradiction will simply be overlooked in the push to impose carbon taxes and increase electric rates which is the real reason for this report.  The real question is whether you work three jobs so you can shovel more of your money to Silicon Valley billionaires in the name of a ‘green’ economy?
