New National Democrat Poll Confirms 8-Point Lead For Djou

A new poll of likely voters conducted by the Democratic National Committee in Washington D.C. confirms the Honolulu Advertiser/Hawaii News Now poll taken this weekend that Republican congressional candidate Charles K. Djou holds an 8-point lead over his two major Democrat rivals.

The poll, conducted by the mainland Democrat polling firm Harstad Strategic Research, Inc., and paid for by the Democratic National Committee, shows amongst likely voters Djou actually does better than reported by the Honolulu Advertiser poll yesterday.  Among likely voters, the poll shows:

  • Djou - 39%
  • Case - 31%
  • Hanabusa - 20%

To read the memo outlining the details of the poll, click here.  By including all survey respondents, instead of likely voters, Djou still leads Case by 2-points.

"Although I am excited that even a Democrat poll shows that our campaign is connecting with Hawaii voters and we have clear momentum in the race.  The hard work begins now to translate our momentum into votes.  The only poll that counts is the one by the voters and I look forward to their judgment," stated Djou.

Like today's Democrat sponsored poll, the Honolulu Advertiser/Hawaii News Now poll published yesterday, also showed Djou enjoying an 8-point lead over Case amongst likely voters and a double-digit lead over Hanabusa.
