HONOLULU – During tonight’s congressional candidate debate, it was clear Charles Djou is the most trusted candidate to go to Washington to stand up for the people of Hawaii. Charles Djou issued the following statement following his outstanding performance at tonight’s debate:

“The people of Hawaii saw firsthand tonight the true differences between me and my opponents. Unlike Ed Case and Colleen Hanabusa, I have never voted for a tax increase, I believe in curbing wasteful government spending and I will go to Washington to advocate for smaller government. While I hope to create jobs for the people of Hawaii, my opponents are intent on growing government and growing our deficit.”

“During tonight’s debate, the people of Hawaii were able to see me for what I am – someone who will always be straight-forward with my constituents. I will not mislead or disregard the people of Hawaii, but instead will wholeheartedly listen to their concerns and stand up to the special interests and powers in Washington. I have dedicated my life in public service to fighting against the partisan majorities that have weakened our economy and I plan to do the same in Congress. Unlike my opponents, I am the only major candidate to live in the first Congressional district. Also unlike my opponents, I am not in this race for political gain; I am in this race to do what is best for the people of Hawaii.”
