SB: Civil-unions bill revived in Hawaii
ADV: Lawmaker tries to bring civil unions bill up for a vote today
House Bill 444 cleared the Senate but was stalled in the House at the beginning of the year. This afternoon, Democratic leader Rep. Blake Oshiro offered a motion to recall the measure which would grant all the benefits and privileges of marriage to couples in a civil union.
The action caused House Speaker Calvin Say to immediately call for a recess and both Republicans and Democrats retreated to closed-door caucuses.
