Ward to Ige: Speed Up Nuclear Drills for DOE
By Rep Gene Ward @ 2:25 PM :: 5807 Views :: Education K-12, Military

“Lawmaker calls on Governor to speed up evacuation/shelter in place drills for DOE/ Wishes President Trump favor as 'Diplomat in Chief' on his tour of Asia”

News Release from Office of Rep Gene Ward, November 3, 2017

Today Rep. Ward (R-Hawaii Kai) wrote a letter to Gov. Ige (see attached) asking the governor to prepare his departments, particularly the DOE to prepare for the unthinkable coming to Hawaii from North Korea.

"We have a very narrow window of about 12 to 15 minutes to prepare for a possible missile attack, and that means we, particularly our keiki, have to know exactly what to do," Ward stated.

Ward has for the past 5 months been promoting "awareness is preparedness" and has been speaking to various Rotary Clubs in Honolulu about the situation with North Korea. He was recently interviewed by Fox Business News, Sky News (UK) and Voice of America - which was broadcast into North Korea. His message to dictator Kim Jong Un was that "you don't build a strong nation by building weapons, you build a strong nation by building your people."

Ward was also part of the presidential welcoming party on the tarmac at Hickam Air Force Base today, and shook hands with the President and wished him much favor with the Asian leaders he will meet as "Diplomat in Chief" on his most important mission trip.

Rep. Gene Ward is a graduate of the East-West Center and served in a diplomatic role as Peace Corps Country Director in East Timor; he now serves in the State House of Representatives (Hawaii Kai - Kalama Valley).
